A prescription to buy Paxil is not only useful for people who suffer from depression. New research suggests that antidepressants may also have pain-relieving effects for patients with osteoarthritis.

The findings add to the ever-growing list of benefits associated with antidepressants. In addition to relieving the pain associated with osteoarthritis, some studies have suggested that the medications may also benefit people with the uncomfortable condition known as fibromyalgia.

In the present study, researchers from New York Medical College reviewed the findings of two previous investigations that looked at the ability of antidepressants to relieve pain. The results showed that in combination with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medications, antidepressants boosted pain relief. Taken on their own the drugs appeared to deliver the same degree of pain relief as NSAIDs.

The researchers concluded in their report, which was published in the International Journal of Clinical Practice, that the findings should show doctors that antidepressants are not just for people with depression. A prescription to buy Paxil may benefit many different types of patients, particularly those who suffer from pain associated with osteoarthritis.
