Multiple statins yield additional cholesterol benefit

When a prescription to buy Lipitor is combined with other cholesterol-lowering statin medications, it may have an even greater impact on heart health than any one drug by itself, according to a new study presented at the Annual Scientific Sessions of the National Lipid Association.

When a prescription to buy Lipitor is combined with other cholesterol-lowering statin medications, it may have an even greater impact on heart health than any one drug by itself, according to a new study presented at the Annual Scientific Sessions of the National Lipid Association.

In the study, researchers from Loyola University tracked the heart health of a group of participants over a 20 year period. Compared to individuals who only used one statin medication, those who used multiple drugs had significantly lower LDL, higher HDL and less fatty buildup in their arteries.

Overall, multiple drug users had vascular ages - a measure of overall cardiovascular function - that were 10.2 years younger than those who only took one medication.

The researchers said their findings are among the first to show this type of benefit to taking several statin medications. The findings could help doctors understand which patients may benefit the most from a prescription to buy Lipitor and other cholesterol-lowering medications. This could increase the chances that patients will receive the treatment that is right for them.
