Over the past few decades, cases of acid reflux have increased dramatically. The problem is now extremely common, even among younger people. This is leading to a rise in prescriptions to buy Nexium and other medications used to treat the problem.

“The number of people affected by this problem has risen 4 percent per year since the 1970s. And back then, it affected people who were middle age and older; today people in their 20s have it,” Dr. Jamie Koufman, who recently wrote about book about heartburn called Dropping Acid, told the Jackson Citizen Patriot.

Koufman recommended that individuals try changing their diet. Avoiding acidic products drinks like fruit juice, soda and alcohol can have a particularly positive impact on a person’s acid reflux symptoms.

The National Institutes of Health warns that acid reflux can cause significant damage to the esophagus. This underscores the importance of seeking treatments that minimize the condition. Talking to a doctor about a prescription to buy Nexium may be one of the most effective strategies. When combined with dietary changes, it could lead to major improvements.
